Kiros merely smirked at his mate, watching her delicately move away, as dainty and perfect as always. He turned his gaze moments later, to Yura and Akiria, like his female counterpart had suggested. "I would be honored to give you the grand tour of Straumura Pack lands, if you'd be so kind as to accompany me~" He stared down at his untouched Raccoon, inwardly sighing about not getting the chance to eat it, but he pushed these thoughts aside. He could just as easily return to it later, as long as none of his followers stole away with it while he played "guide dog". He was sure that tonight though, of all the nights it could be, things would turn out right.
I'd hunt down the dog that touched my damn raccoon anyway...
He smiled down at the two others, keeping his rude thoughts to himself. The majority of the time, he wished to seem calm and assertive, as a pack leader should be, not grumbling and stingy about a small piece of meat.
"There's quite a lot of area to explore," He continued, "But I assure you that we'll return in time for the games and readying of costumes."
As he spoke, he realized that he himself had no costume. Not that he usually did, but it was still something that always disappointed him. He felt as though the leader she participate in all the events, otherwise it wouldn't mean as much to the pack. It wouldn't feel as though they were all being brought together... He shook this thought from his mind as well, realizing it was too late to change anyway. He'd just have to go without, this year.

Yura smiled at Kiros. Everyone seemed to be disbanding and joining their own friends. "Well, looks like it's just us! Let's go!" She wagged her tail, occasionally hitting her newfound friend on the head. She wondered what Akiria meant by the 'others'. However, she did not let these thoughts bug her.
Everyone has their own ways. Yura nodded astutely to herself and glanced briefly at Akiria, a hint of curiosity lingering in her dark eyes. She pranced after Kiros, making sure to avoid stepping on his raccoon. Her little friend trotted beside her. Suddenly her gaze moved to the bag around Akiria's shoulder, but she didn't dare ask about it. I'll mind my own business . . . for now. "Hey, Akiria, you gonna participate in the games?"
--
Akiria almost sighed in relief as everyone left. She felt so tense with everyone staring her down like that. Was she really that odd? . . . Well, she giggled at the thought, she would probably be surprised if one so small entered her land, too. She watched as Alexei nuzzle her mate - who she supposed was Kiros - fondly, and something like longing entered her brown eyes.
A single thought raced through her mind. Will I ever find a mate? She was so small. Would there ever be a dog as small as her out there that would like her for who she was? So many dogs thought she was crazy. But . . .
Akiria shook her head. No, she thought, I won't let these thoughts interrupt my mind. She smiled hesitantly, barely catching Yura's question. "Umm . . . yeah. I guess. Hopefully there's no size limit?" She asked, flicking her ears. Yura stifled a chuckle. "Nope, I hope not!"

Kyushina couldn't help but laugh a bit at how proper her older friend was. Alexei certainly was the perfectionist of the pack, small but mighty and taking her duties seriously. The red-furred female settled across from her friend, crossing her forepaws. In that respect, she and Alexei differed greatly. To Kyushina, not everything had to be perfect -- as long as everything went right in the end, that's all that mattered. No, she wasn't a slob, but a little improvising didn't hurt anybody, did it?
"Nothing much going on with the borders either," Kyushina shrugged. "The Pareil's been oddly quiet for the longest time; it's kinda itching my pelt, making me wonder what they're up to." The female's eyes burned a bit, slight excitement showing in her features. "But they'll soon learn from us that they'll wish they had stayed quiet when they do act up again." Grinning, she nodded her head, as if that was final.
Yes, Alexei was one of the few canines that kept Kyushina calm. Though she didn't go digging for trouble, quite a few dogs happened to rub the paprika-furred female the wrong way. Perhaps that's why the the leader and her bonded so well.

Alexei smiled at Kyushina's optimism and faith in their pack. That's just what I need - dogs who aren't afraid to believe in the strength of the Straumura. The other dog's confidence was contagious, and she grinned herself, lifting her head a bit higher as if to reciprocate that feeling. "Good. That's good to hear. At the first hint of any Pareil trouble, you must let me know." She only said this for caution's sake - Alexei was certain that Kyushina would be sure to do that, if anyone. It had only been in the past a couple times when some dogs had found some hint of trouble and had gone off to take care of it on their own with a sort of hero complex, only to return battered and often grievously wounded, if not dead.
"It does make me wonder what they are up to," she mused out loud, tilting her head and flickering her eyes to the side, deep in thought and speculation. The last time they had been silent like this... they had emerged from the silence with a storm - their own created Thriene. A ripple of anxiety went through Alexei's fur at that memory. What if they were planning something similar? It wasn't like the Pareil to be sitting quietly, licking their wounds for years.

Rena beamed and wagged her tail even more fiercely than before when Dreizehn smiled and nodded at her. She didn't quite understand why he didn't come over to her, though she figured he wanted to stay with his sister for a bit longer. Then Reiner came, and the large Doberman finally decided to join them. At his usual gruff greeting, the Mini Dachshund showed off her teeth again, barking energetically.
"Of course we made it~!" She teased. "It's the biggest event of the year! How could we miss it? Right, Reiner?" The black dog turned to the Collie, her still moving tail lightly hitting his legs.
She looked around for a moment, noticing the crowd growing even bigger. "This new dog is very popular, huh?"
She looked at the Chihuahua, noticing that even though she was one of the smallest in Straumura, the newcomer was even smaller than her. She wondered if she could get along with her. Before she could try and talk to the loner though, the pack members started breaking away, forming their own groups as they went towards different destinations.
"Everyone's moving away... Maybe we should go somewhere else too? Have the games started yet?" It didn't seem like it, but the childish little dog couldn't keep herself from asking. Maybe the games would start now that she mentioned it? It was a nice thought, even if it was a bit impossible. She looked back at her two older friends.

At Rena's question about when the games were going to start, the Doberman chuckled quietly and lifted his head, looking first at Alexei, who was deep in amicable conversation with her long-time friend Kyushina, and then at Kiros, who was showing the newcomer around the place with Yura's help, looking every inch the proud leader with his sure gait and calm demeanor. Neither of them looked like they were quite ready to begin yet, so he shrugged and turned back to his two friends. "It doesn't seem like it."
He glanced towards the prey pile now, ad began moving towards it at a slow lope. "Have either of you eaten yet? You look like you both just arrived."
If the games weren't going to start soon, they might at least dive more into the food. Of course, it would still be there when the games were over and probably eating a lot before the fun wasn't a good idea, but that didn't really matter much to Dreizehn. He didn't usually participate to much in the games. Yura called him a party-pooper for it, but he liked to sit on the sidelines and watch others have fun. It calmed him and made him happy, to see other dogs clearly enjoying the Straumura's most festive night.

Kyushina nodded, eyes still ablaze, at Alexei's orders. Then she snorted, grinning; "Of course I'd tell you, O great Alexei, why would I?" To any other canine, it would've sounded as if Kyushina was mocking the alpha female, but in all reality, that was just the red-furred dog's way. She might come off a bit blunt or stubborn, but all her friends knew her enough to see beneath the words to their true meaning.
But at Alexei's next statement, Kyushina's grin melted away, replaced by a slight frown. "Yeah, same here," she noted, her tail curling upwards at the thought of the quieted Pareil again. "We'd all like to think that they've finally learned their lesson and settled down for good, but we're also not dumb enough to just accept that and act like everything's happy-go-lucky." Shaking her head, Kyushina let out a long sigh. "Without 'em, life would be a heck of a lot more fun."

"More like a heck of a lot more peaceful," she replied with a sigh and a knowledgeable nod, "as you say." The Straumura Pack hadn't even had a whiff of anything regarding the Pareil canines for years. Not so much as a single pawprint or unfamiliar scent. No word, no sightings. And no one had tried to go into Pareil territory for an equally long time. Alexei might have considered a spy mission of sorts, but she didn't want to risk losing one of her canines.
Oh, what to do?
But just as she was musing over this, a single loud earthy boom from the large drum they used solely for tonight's occasion sounded out over the territory. Three seconds later, it was followed by another, and then another. A grin tinging her maw, Alexei rose, as did others around camp, similar expression on their eager faces. "It looks like the games are about to start," she said, turning to face Kyushina with a smile. "Are you playing this year, Kyushina?"

Reiner looked down at Rena and laughed quietly, remembering that he was late, and almost had missed it. "Right." He looked over at the new Chihuahua who seemed to be getting a lot of attention. "She must be interesting, considering all the others surrounding her." He wagged his tail
Thinking about playing the games reminded him of being a pup. He noted the size difference between Rena and himself, deciding she would probably have more fun playing the games then he would. "We can go wherever you'd like, miss." He smiled, turning towards Dreizehn who had been eying the food. He felt his own stomach growl, and decided he'd eat before going along with Rena.

"Peaceful, right. How could I forget that?" Shaking her head a laugh, Kyushina stretched her forelegs in front of her as she raised her hauches in the air. With a quick, snapping yawn, the paprika-pelted canine popped to her paws. In a moment, a resounding bass boom announced itself to the pack, the source an enormous drum only seen once a year.
The games were about to start.
True, Kyushina was excited about the whole prospect -- she liked to see what activities would be held each year. They had many games reserved for this event, but only a few were chosen for each of The Learning of the Kr'al. As a pup, it was all she could ever look forward to, eagerly wagging her tail and begging for the day to come. Now that she was older, she kind of preferred just to watch, though occasionally she'd find herself dragged in as well. Casting Alexei a glance, her eyes sparked again. "I will if you will, O Great One."

Oh great one? Alexei raised an eyebrow elegantly, and a glimmer of amusement entered her typically aloof eyes. She grinned then, and nodded, turning to head towards the center of the meadow where the beginnings of the games would be taking place. The dogs manning each of the stations had already taken their places, and the pups were barking excitedly as they bounced about in front of the elders, who watched the young ones with affection and amusement in their old eyes.
"Come then, Kyushina - perhaps a good game of butterfly hunt will help to get the blood pumping." She barked and headed over to the place where a few pups and younger dogs were gathering for the game. They looked up at her and the red dog, and seemed a bit confused at first as to why their leader was going to be participating in the typically pup-like game.
The dog in charge - an old mastiff, simply smiled. "Come to play, Alexei? Kyushina?"
The Shiba Inu nodded, wagging her curled tail. "Indeed, Damon. I haven't played a good game of butterfly hunt in years."

"Oh, alright," Kyushina drawled, feigning to knead her paws with exasperation, though she was secretly excited. For the past few years, she had secretly been wanting to play along with the pups and younglings, but none of her friends had wanted to participate. Perhaps their spirits had matured a little earlier than her own. Kyushina had laughed, agreeing with such a silly idea, though now that she looked back on it, she wondered why. She was usually a strong canine, standing up for what she wanted and needed, indifferent to others' opinions. She had succumbed to what looked cool, rather than what was.
Casting all regreats aside, Kyushina blinked back to the present to find Alexei several strides ahead. Bounding to catch up, they soon came across Damon, an older but wiser mastiff. "You bet," she barked, eyes glimmering with a playful spirit. She caught Alexei's eye, grinning with a slightly mischievous air. "Loser catches the other's breakfast tomorrow?"

"Loser catches the other's breakfast tomorrow?"
Kyushina's playful offer was not one most would even consider presenting to the leader of the Straumura Pack. Commonly known as icy and commanding, Alexei was not typically what others would think of as friendly or, oh gods forbid - playful. What they didn't realize was she had to cut loose from time to time, as with the best of them. Curled tail flicking back and forth, she smiled a toothy grin. "Why do I agree to these things with you, Kyushina? But fine."
She hadn't so much as uttered those last words when the mastiff brought his paw down thunderously on the ground. At that, the butterflies were released from the jars they'd been kept in. "You have two minutes to catch as many butterflies as you can. Don't kill them - snag them and place them in the jars each of you have been given! You are not allowed to steal another dog's butterflies. Go!"
With that, Alexei leaped forward, setting her sights for a large monarch that was flitting in front of her. Leaping up deftly, she snatched it in her jaws and deposited it in her glass jar before moving on again.

Yura and Akiria both had joined the festivities. "Come on, let's ditch Kiros," she had whispered in the ear of her new friend as their male leader had begun to delve into a very detailed description of their history. Akiria had just nodded eagerly, looking worriedly at Kiros. I hope he doesn't kill us for that, thought Akiria as she stood beside her taller friend.
"Go!"
When the word was sent out, Yura immediately took action. She was like a flailing mass of jumping, snatching, and paws - or at least, in Akiria's eyes. The Chihuahua was so stunned she couldn't move for a second. How could Yura move so fast?
The truth was, Yura was so hyper that she was actually letting all of her energy out. She leapt into the air, neatly catching a yellow butterfly and throwing it into the jar, before doing it again and again. Of course, there were those butterflies that were too fast or small to catch, but she was doing a very great job.
Akiria blinked, realizing that her friend had already caught ten and she had caught zero. She watched Yura's actions for a few more seconds, and copied them; however, she was not exactly large enough, or strong enough, to jump that high. She flailed her paws desperately, managing to catch a butterfly and make it falter. She immediately grabbed it and dropped it in her jar.
Just one? Akiria thought in dismay. She looked up. Suddenly something clicked in her head. The darts! She grabbed one of her un-poisoned darts, observing a butterfly in the distance. With one eye closed, she threw it from her muzzle, catching it squarely between the wings. Her heart swelled with pride. "Did you see -" She was cut off by a gasp.
Yura blinked in horror. "Y-you . . . killed it!" The ivory female panted, letting go of the butterfly she had just caught. Akiria stepped forward and observed the creature, before returning her gaze to Yura's in dismay. "I-I didn't mean it . . ."
Yura couldn't help but feel sorry for the little thing. But her gaze was steady. "You broke one of the rules. You can't participate in the games anymore," she said quietly. Tears leaked from her brown eyes. "No! I'm so s-sorry . . . I didn't k-know!" Yura blinked. "I know you're sorry," she said softly, "but I can't change the rules. I'm sorry, Akiria. I can sit out with you if you'd like."
Yura honestly didn't want to miss the games, but she felt so bad. Akiria shook her head, sniffing sadly. "No, you stay . . ." Without another glance at Yura, the little dog walked away and sat down at the front of the crowd, head down as she tried to hide her tears. "Aww, looks like someone accidentally made a kill. Oh well! It happens every now and then," the announcer said, casting a sympathetic glance at Akiria. "But rules are rules, so this little 'un has to sit out."
ooc . o-o hope that was okay? xP

"Awww, 'cuz ya love me," Kyushina teased, batting her eyelashes at Alexei. "And 'cuz I happen to be a little lazy," she added with a small laugh. She hardly bet with the Straumura leader like this; just because she was Alexei's best friend didn't mean she got special privileges over the others. She was still simply a member of the pack, loyal like the rest and hard-working (for most of the time, anyway). The red-pelted canine hadn't teased Alexei in awhile, so it was about time she did -- and why not at The Learning of the Kr'al? Everyone was light-hearted and having a great time.
As Damon began to announce the beginning of the game and released the butterflies, Kyushina's dancing eyes darted between each one. There were a beautiful array of different types: blue ones, striped ones, polka-dotted ones, multi-colored ones, enormous ones. Her rump wiggled back and forth a little as her tail wagged. Grinning, she bolted forward as soon as the signal was given.
She knew not to go easy on Alexei. She had tried that a few years back and her rear-end was beaten by a long-shot. Leaping into the air, she snatched a beautiful blue morpho, careful to grab the tips of its wings as lightly as she could muster. Landing on all fours, she rushed towards her jar, releasing it before smashing on the lid and turning for more.
